Junior Membership Policies
Our Tennis Director has developed a strong junior program that we are proud of. Since some of our club policies can be confusing, we are providing this information for clarification.
JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP
For children 6 to 18 years old.
All juniors enrolled in our classes are required to be a member of the club, either as part of a family membership, or as the less expensive individual junior membership. Unless siblings are part of a family membership, each sibling enrolled in the Junior Program needs to have their own separate junior membership.
One exception to this is our Level 1 class. For this level the student may be a pre-member to find out if tennis is a sport they want to participate in. If they stay with the program and advance to Level 2, then they would need to purchase a Junior membership.
ENROLLMENT IN JR. PROGRAM
Enrollment in the Junior Program is on a first-come basis, depending on class availability, and by approval of the Tennis Director. Once your child is in the Junior Program, he/she will be automatically re-enrolled for the following month unless we receive a written notice to cancel. Canceling a class is not the same as canceling club membership. These are two separate issues. Enrollment in a Junior Program class is for a full month—no prorating.
CLASS TIMES
Junior Program tennis classes are offered at different times and days, so you will want to confirm each month that you understand the schedule. Printed schedules and fees are available at the front desk.
CHARGES
If your child is enrolled in a class, we are holding a space for the child, which means you will be charged the full monthly rate whether or not your child attends. We do not offer make-up classes.
Monthly dues are billed in advance. Charges for the Junior Tennis Program and any miscellaneous charges from the previous month, are billed at the end of the month. Account balances are due by 25th of the month; a rebilling fee is assessed on past due accounts.
TO CANCEL CLUB MEMBERSHIP
If you wish to cancel your membership, please notify the office by the 25th of the preceding month in writing so we can discontinue billing monthly dues. If your child drops out of the Junior Program classes, he or she is still a club member, and will be billed for the monthly dues until we are informed otherwise. We have junior members who do not take lessons, but still belong to the club in order to use the courts and pool. Monthly membership fees apply until the office receives advance written notification!
INACTIVE STATUS
There is a $25.00 processing fee to place a membership on hold. A Junior Membership may only be put on hold during the summer months for the school calendar. To put a Junior Membership on hold, you must give the club a ten-day advance notice in writing. Charges for dues and taxes will be stopped as of the first of the month following receipt of the written notice. Dues already billed will not be credited, nor will any portion of the month be prorated. Junior members on hold cannot use the club and will not have any charge privileges.
MEMBERSHIP REACTIVATION
Dues and taxes will not be prorated for partial months. If a junior, who is on hold, participates in any of the junior tennis or swim programs, he or she will be billed retroactively for the membership reactivation fee and a full month’s dues. If a Junior Membership is not reactivated at the beginning of the school year, it is considered cancelled. To start up again, the junior has to reapply for membership and pay the $75 initiation fee.
SUMMER FAMILY MEMBERSHIPS
Juniors, whose memberships are on hold for the summer because the family has a Summer Membership, will be entitled to club privileges enjoyed by the summer members. This does NOT include charge privileges. All summer members must pay cash in advance for services and concessions.
COURT RESERVATIONS
As a member, your child can reserve a court for open play up to six days in advance. However, advance reservations for prime-time courts (early weekday evenings 7:30 & 9:00 p.m. and weekend mornings 8:00, 9:30, & 11 a.m.) are restricted to adults. Juniors can only reserve prime-time courts 24 hours or less in advance.
We encourage juniors to play with other junior members to practice new stroke mechanics and develop match play skills. For a nominal guest fee ($15), this could also be an opportunity for parents or friends to enjoy tennis.
CANCELLING A COURT
Please call the office to cancel a reservation if your child is unable to use a court they have reserved. If the cancellation is made less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled court and if the court is not subsequently utilized, the $12 court fee will be charged to the member who made the reservation. If players do not show up for a scheduled court, an additional $5 “no show” charge applies. This policy was implemented years ago to minimize unused courts at the same time that other members are trying to reserve a court.
BILLING FOR COURTS
Courts cost $12 for 1 ½ hour of court time, which can either be paid before going up the court, or can be billed to your account. If two or more members are to share the court fee, please make sure your child informs the office when he/she checks in to play so that all players will be billed correctly.
POOL USE
All Edgebrook memberships include unlimited use of the pool in the summer. Your child might want to consider continuing in the junior tennis program over the summer, joining our Junior Eastside Tennis Team, taking swim lessons, or joining our swim or water polo teams. Parents and guests accompanying them must pay a normal guest fee.
Please call the office if you would like further explanation. And don’t let the kids have all the fun—have you considered the advantages of a family membership?

- Prorating:
- In case of injury or other extended absence, prorating of classes must be discussed and cleared in advance with the Tennis Staff. You must also notify the office in writing of any prorate arrangement.
- In case of vacation or school holidays, we try to anticipate those days in advance and pro-rate class charges when applicable.
- During the winter, if the Bellevue School District closes due to inclement weather, our Junior Program will be automatically cancelled and classes will be prorated accordingly.
- Monthly club membership dues are never prorated.
