Junior Program
PURPOSE:The Purpose of the Edgebrook Junior Program is to build junior tennis players into mature athletes. Teaching them how to train, be part of a team, show leadership and develop their own skills and abilities to the best of their potential.
PHILOSOPHY: We believe our juniors are people first, athletes second, and tennis players third. Our first responsibility is to the good of our students as people. We will teach our juniors how to be and act as athletes. We also will develop their skills in an organized comprehensive manner focusing on gaining expertise in all areas of their development.
MISSION: We will help move a player through the different phases of development with the ultimate goal of reaching the champs level of play. For some who wish to reach beyond the ordinary there is the possibility of playing Collegiate Level Tennis.
Junior Clinics are designed to teach a player the broad skills it takes to play the game of tennis at a competitive level.
Match Play is designed to develop goal setting skills, independent practice skills and develop the player’s ability to play matches more effectively.
Private Lessons can be a supplement for players needing extra help in specific areas.
Parent Meetings keep communication lines open between parents and coaches
Practice - Booking Courts, Ball Machine Rental, Hitting on the wall, Robinswood, Adopt-a-Junior, Rallyers are all programs that we work with to help a player’s development. More information on these programs will be coming soon.
Fitness elements are designed to improve athletic skills. More intensely focused efforts will begin in late Fall 2010.
Tournament Training Teams are designed to dive deeper into a player’s game. To develop and refine a player’s specific skills that matches that particular players style.
Ladder matches give a player a chance to gain more experience in competing against other quality competitors. As iron sharpens iron we want our players to push each other knowing that when my teammate becomes better, I am forced to become better.
Developmental Plans are road maps to a player’s goals. They are communication tools between Parent, Coach and Player. They include information on the Developmental Team Leader, Player Evaluation, Long Term Vision, Strategy/Game Style, Tactical Considerations, Technical Development, Emotional/Psychological Development, Scheduling/Periodization, Physical Development and Goal Setting. This program will be formally rolling out in fall 2010 although we will be starting some components before that date.
Road Trips are meant to inspire and motivate players to continue to reach for their maximum potential. They might include trips to collegiate or pro matches or trips to tournaments with the coaches.
